Discover the most famous full-day trek in Huascarán National Park, leading to a breathtaking turquoise lagoon at 4,604 meters. A must-do adventure for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Itinerary


DAY 01: HUARAZ - PASTORURI - HUARAZ

  • 08:30 a.m. Departure from your hotel or designated meeting point, heading south of Huaraz. Enjoy stunning views of the southern Cordillera Blanca while passing through the picturesque towns of Recuay, Ticapampa, and Catac.
  • First stop: Patococha, also known as the Duck Lagoon, a peaceful spot where you can observe wild ducks in their natural habitat, surrounded by beautiful scenery.
  • Second stop: The Puma Pampa Carbonated Spring, a unique site featuring bubbling waters and spectacular views of the Mururaju Glacier.
  • Third stop: Pumapashimi Lagoon, also known as the Seven Colors Spring, famous for its vibrant water hues, which legend says are the origin of the rainbow.
  • Fourth stop: Discover the high Andean flora as we visit the *Puya Raimondii*, an endemic plant of the region known for its towering size and unique shape.
  • Fifth stop: Arrive at the Pastoruri Base Camp to begin a hike to the glacier (approximately 40 minutes). Alternatively, you can rent horses for a more comfortable journey (additional cost).
  • Final stop: On our way back, we’ll stop in Ticapampa to enjoy a delicious lunch.
  • Return to Huaraz.

  1. What should I bring?

    • Light clothing for the day and warm layers for the morning/evening.
    • Waterproof jacket or poncho (october to april).
    • Trekking or sport shoes.
    • Sun protection: sunscreen, cap or hat, sunglasses.

  3. We recommend booking at least 24 hours before the departure date. However, availability is limited and subject to change, so it’s best to book as early as possible.

  4. What is the group size for the tour?

  6. What is the best season to do the tour?

  7. The ideal season is from May to October. However, the hike can be done year-round; you only need to bring waterproof clothing to protect yourself from the rain.

  9. The hike start and end in the city of Huaraz - Ancash.

  10. How to get to Huaraz?

  11. By air: Anta Airport (ATA, Comandante FAP Germán Arias Graziani Airport) is currently only for domestic flights, so all international travelers by air must disembark in Lima and go through customs.

    • The best way to get to Huaraz is by air, currently there is only one airline operating: LATAM.
    • Flight time: 1 hour 10 minutes.

    By land: This is the most common route, with a paved road of 404 km from Lima. Try to book the bus cama service for a more comfortable journey and rest during the trip.

  12. Do you organize transfers/pickups from the airport?
