This hike is perfect for acclimatization, featuring a steady ascent of about 2.5 hours that leads to the stunning crystal-clear waters in shades of blue and green, located at the foot of the snow-capped mountain of the same name.

Schedule: 05:00 AM to 18:30 PM
Highest altitude: 4,604 m (15105 ft)
Group Size: 15 to 28 people.
Lunch: Please bring a packed lunch to enjoy at the site while taking in the beautiful landscape.
Requirements: Must be in good physical condition for trekking at high altitudes

Itinerary

Iniciamos a las 7:30 am con el recojo de los clientes en sus respetivos hoteles, una vez finalizado con el recojo salimos con dirección a Pitec 3,850 m (punto de inicio de la caminata), despues de una caminata en forma ascendente hasta los 4,450 m encontramos la laguna de Churup.

Despues de disfrutar de la naturaleza y tomar las fotografias retornamos por la misma ruta hasta Pitec donde nos espera nuestro transporte para trasladarnos a Huaraz.

What should I bring?

Light clothing for the day and warm layers for the morning/evening.
Waterproof jacket or poncho.

How far in advance should I book the program?

We recommend booking at least 5 days before the departure date. However, availability is limited and subject to change, so it’s best to book as early as possible.

What is the group size for the hike?

What is the best season to do the hike?

The ideal season is from May to October. However, the hike can be done year-round; you only need to bring waterproof clothing to protect yourself from the rain.

Preparation and Tips

Fitness: Ensure good physical condition due to the demanding nature of the trek.
Gear: Pack appropriate clothing for high-altitude trekking, including warm layers, rain gear, and sturdy hiking boots.

Restrictions

Not suitable for pregnant women over 6 months.
Not recommended for individuals with heart or knee problems.

Where do the hike start and end?

The hike start and end in the city of Huaraz - Ancash.

How to get to Huaraz?

By air: Anta Airport (ATA, Comandante FAP Germán Arias Graziani Airport) is currently only for domestic flights, so all international travelers by air must disembark in Lima and go through customs.

The best way to get to Huaraz is by air, currently there is only one airline operating: LATAM.
Flight time: 1 hour 10 minutes.

By land: This is the most common route, with a paved road of 404 km from Lima. Try to book the bus cama service for a more comfortable journey and rest during the trip.

We recommend the following companies: CIVA, Movil Bus, Cruz del Sur, Julio Cesar, Linea.
Travel time by bus: 8 hours.
