This stunning lagoon, with crystal-clear waters in shades of blue and green, is one of the most visited and popular spots within the Huascarán National Park. It is the perfect destination for acclimatization hikes, thanks to its natural beauty and accessibility.

Itinerary

DAY 01: HUARAZ - CHURUP LAGOON - HUARAZ

7:30 AM departure heading to Pitec (3,850 m), the starting point of the hike.
The hike is an ascent to reach Churup Lagoon, located at 4,450 m
After enjoying nature and taking photos, we return along the same route back to Pitec.
Finally, we return to Huaraz.

How far in advance should I book the program?

We recommend booking at least 5 days before the departure date. However, availability is limited and subject to change, so it’s best to book as early as possible.

What is the group size for the hike?

What is the best season to do the hike?

The ideal season is from May to October. However, the hike can be done year-round; you only need to bring waterproof clothing to protect yourself from the rain.

Preparation and Tips

Fitness: Ensure good physical condition due to the demanding nature of the trek.
Gear: Pack appropriate clothing for high-altitude trekking, including warm layers, rain gear, and sturdy hiking boots.

Restrictions

Not suitable for pregnant women over 6 months.

The hike start and end in the city of Huaraz - Ancash.

How to get to Huaraz?

By air: Anta Airport (ATA, Comandante FAP Germán Arias Graziani Airport) is currently only for domestic flights, so all international travelers by air must disembark in Lima and go through customs.

The best way to get to Huaraz is by air, currently there is only one airline operating: LATAM.
Flight time: 1 hour 10 minutes.

By land: This is the most common route, with a paved road of 404 km from Lima. Try to book the bus cama service for a more comfortable journey and rest during the trip.

We recommend the following companies: CIVA, Movil Bus, Cruz del Sur, Julio Cesar, Linea.
Travel time by bus: 8 hours.
